EVANSVILLE, Ind.—The University of Southern Indiana softball team and Head Coach Sue Kunkle announced that former University of Wisconsin-Parkside standout Kim Dean has been added as a graduate assistant to its coaching staff.
Dean played four seasons with the Rangers, amassing a .294 career batting average and more than 175 career hits. She also racked up more than 50 RBI and scored more than 100 runs, while earning second-team All-GLVC honors as a sophomore in 2003.
During her career, Dean played and started in nearly 200 games, helping UW-Parkside to 113 victories and 42 GLVC wins.
After completing her eligibility in 2005, Dean broke into the coaching ranks as a student assistant at UW-Parkside.
A native of South Elgin, Illinois, Dean earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from UW-Parkside in 2006 and has spent the last year working in the University of North Texas intramural program. She also has worked with the city of Denton, Texas, athletic programs since February of 2008.
“We are excited about the knowledge and help that coach Dean brings to our staff,” Kunkle said. “She is familiar with the GLVC and is excited to be back in the coaching ranks.”
Dean will be pursing a master’s degree in public administration while at USI.
