EVANSVILLE, Ind.—University of Southern Indiana senior All-American Mary Ballinger and sophomore Jackie Henderson were named to the All-Great Lakes Valley Conference Indoor Women’s Track and Field teams for their efforts at the GLVC Indoor Championships.
Ballinger, the GLVC Indoor Track Athlete of the Year, earned first-team honors after winning the conference titles in the mile and the 3,000 meters and finishing second in the 5,000 meters. It marks the third time that Ballinger has earned All-Conference honors for indoor track and the eighth time in track and cross country.
The USI/Integra Bank Female Student Athlete of the Year in 2008-09, Ballinger recently earned her eighth All-America honor of her career with an eighth-place finish in the mile at the NCAA II Indoor Championships Saturday.
Henderson was selected to the second team after finishing third in the 3,000 meters and fourth in the 5,000 meters at the GLVC Indoor Championships. It marks the first time in her track career and the second time in her cross country/track career that Henderson has garnered All-Conference accolades.
The Screaming Eagles open the outdoor season April 2-3 when they compete at the Washington University Invitational in St. Louis, Missouri.
