EVANSVILLE, Ind.—The University of Southern Indiana women’s basketball team learned Sunday night that it will play GLVC Tournament champion Drury University in the first round of the NCAA Division II Midwest Region Tournament Friday at 11 a.m. (CST) in Houghton, Michigan.
USI (22-8) earned an at-large bid into the national tournament and will be the sixth seed, while Drury is the third seed after grabbing the conference’s automatic qualifying spot with their 68-63 victory over the University of Wisconsin-Parkside in the GLVC Tournament Championship Sunday afternoon.
Michigan Tech University will host the eight-team tournament after winning the GLIAC title Saturday night. The Huskies host the eighth seed, Northern Kentucky University, Friday in the first round. Wisconsin-Parkside, the fourth seed, will square off with The University of Findlay in the four-five matchup; while the second-seeded University of Indianapolis Greyhounds face Northern Michigan University in the two-seven matchup.
