EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The University of Southern Indiana men’s basketball team announced the signing of forward Taylor Wischmeier to a national letter of intent for the 2010-11 season. Wischmeier is the first player to sign with USI this spring and the second of the year.
Guard/forward Austin Davis, a senior at Freeport High School (Freeport, Illinois), signed with the Screaming Eagles during the early signing period last November.
Wischmeier signs with USI after lettering in basketball at Brownstown Central High School (Brownstown, Indiana). He was the BCHS 2010 Most Valuable Player and averaged a double-double (21.5 points and 10.0 rebounds per game) for his career.
The 2010 Graber Post Classic Most Valuable Player helped lead the Braves to the Indiana state finals in 2009 and the regional finals in 2010.
“Taylor Wischmeier is consistent - a characteristic difficult to find in a prospect,” said USI Head Coach Rodney Watson. “He has been a scholar throughout; he continually improves his skill and athleticism; and he maintains the same demeanor on and off the court.
“Taylor is a 6’8” forward will a great upside,” continued Watson. “He has been extremely well coached by Dave Benter. Growing up on a farm, Taylor understands work ethic. We are thrilled he will join us at the University of Southern Indiana.”
