Complete All-GLVC Teams
EAST PEORIA, Ill.—The University of Southern Indiana softball team had five players named to the All-GLVC team as announced by the league office at the GLVC Softball Tournament Awards Banquet Thursday night.
Junior first baseman Brittany DeWeese, junior centerfielder Reva LeDune-Bourgasser, and junior third baseman LeAnn Collins were selected to the second team, while senior designated player Sara Loete and freshman rightfielder Katherine Belsito were named to the third team.
DeWeese led the Screaming Eagles with a .364 batting average, 11 doubles, seven home runs, and 36 RBIs in 2010. She hit a blistering .393 with nine doubles, four home runs, and 19 RBIs in GLVC play.
LeDune-Bourgasser came on strong for the Eagles in the last month of the season, hitting .351 with three home runs and 12 RBIs in the month of April. She finished the regular season with a .313 batting average with nine doubles, six home runs, and 25 RBIs.
Collins also had a strong season for the Eagles, hitting .320 with eight doubles, five home runs, and 23 RBIs during the regular season. She had six doubles, four home runs, and 19 RBIs in GLVC play.
Loete, an All-American in 2008, hit .288 with eight doubles, three home runs, and 21 RBIs. USI’s single-season RBI leader (54 in 2008), Loete currently ranks sixth all-time at USI with 102 career RBIs and third all-time at USI with 18 career home runs.
Belsito had a standout year in her first season of collegiate softball as she hit .299 with a team-high 30 runs scored to go along with five doubles and 10 RBIs during the regular season. Defensively, Belsito was perfect in the outfield as she recorded 38 putouts and three outfield assists without an error.
USI, the eighth seed in the league’s post-season tournament, takes on the top-seeded and No. 21-ranked University of Indianapolis Greyhounds Friday at noon in the first round of the GLVC Tournament in East Peoria, Illinois.
