EVANSVILLE, Ind.—University of Southern Indiana women’s basketball Head Coach Rick Stein announced Thursday that 5’10” junior guard/forward Kristin Raker (Indianapolis, Indiana) and 5’8” sophomore guard Marina Hartman (Big Bend, Wisconsin) are transferring to play for the Screaming Eagles in 2010-11.
Raker makes the transition from Division I Morehead State University where she spent the previous two seasons.
During her two years at Morehead State, Raker saw action in 25 games, recording a career-high three points on two occasions.
A graduate of Perry Meridian High School (Indianapolis), Raker earned third-team All-State honors from Hoosier Basketball Magazine and was a two-time All-County and All-Conference selection.
Hartman is transferring from Division I Western Illinois University after seeing action in 11 games during her freshman season.
A graduate of Muskego High School (Muskego, Wisconsin), Hartman helped her team to a conference title with a perfect 16-0 mark in 2009.
“We are excited to have Kristin and Marina join our USI family,” Stein said. “They both fit in well into our program and style of play and will bring experience, size, and athleticism to the guard and forward positions.”
Hartman and Raker join 6’1” freshman forward/center Nicole Hazemi (Lombard, Illinois) and 5’6” freshman guard Stephanie Carpenter (Salem, Illinois) on USI’s list of incoming players for the 2010-11 campaign. Both Hazemi and Carpenter signed national letters of intent during the early signing period last November.
