EVANSVILLE, Ind.—For the third straight year, University of Southern Indiana senior women’s golfer Kimberly Gottwald has been named a National Golf Coaches’ Association All-American Scholar. She becomes the first USI women’s golfer in school history to earn the honor three times.
To be eligible for the All-American Scholar team, a student-athlete must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.50 and completed in at least 66 percent of the institution’s regularly-scheduled competitive rounds during the year.
Gottwald ranked third on the team in 2009-10 with an 80.6 strokes per round average (spra) in 13 tournaments and 27 rounds. Her efforts, which included a career-best round of 72 on two occasions, helped the Screaming Eagles record a program-record 318.8 spra this past season.
The early childhood psychology major had eight top-20 finishes, five top-10 finishes, and a pair of top-five finishes in 2009-10. She tied for 24th at the NCAA II East Regional after shooting a 54-hole 238 (79-79-80).
